Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants Abdullah Bou Habib continues his official visit to the island of Cyprus, where he met his Cypriot counterpart Ioannis Kasoulides, who stressed that Lebanon is not geographically close to Cyprus, but rather is close to the heart of the Cypriots, and Cyprus is closely following the crisis in Lebanon.
The Cypriot minister stressed his country’s common position with the European Union regarding the failure of Lebanon, which needs to find solutions to its problems, especially since the international community has expressed its willingness to provide financial and technical assistance.
The Cypriot minister welcomed Lebanon’s initial agreement with the International Monetary Fund and the positive development in its relations with the Gulf, stressing the importance of holding the upcoming Lebanese parliamentary elections.
In turn, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants, Abdullah Bou Habib, expressed his pleasure to visit Cyprus, which is frequented by many Lebanese.
Bouhabib described his meeting with his Cypriot counterpart as fruitful, thanking Cyprus for the assistance it provided to Lebanon, especially following the Beirut port explosion.
Minister Bouhabib indicated that the current crises in the region, especially the war in Ukraine, were discussed during the meeting, as well as the issue of Maronite towns in the north of the island.
Bou Habib stressed the deep relationship that unites the two countries, stressing the continuation of cooperation between them in all regional and international issues.
