What is Disney Dreamlight Valley?
Disney Dreamlight Valley is a life simulator home to a slew of Disney and Pixar characters. Dreamlight Valley is said to be a once idyllic place where Disney and Pixar characters lived peacefully. Unfortunately, a terrible tragedy will cause the characters of the valley to lose their memories and your mission will therefore be to restore their wonderful memories. According to Gameloft, Disney Dreamlight Valley est “a hybrid between a life simulator and an adventure game that contains all the cool content of a sandbox but also a scripted epic in which you have to solve mysteries.”
What is the release date and price?
Expected on PC, PS5, PS5, Xbox Series, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch in 2023, Disney Dreamlight Valley will take the form of a free-to-play which will be approached from September 6, 2022 through early access. To access it, you will need to be a Game Pass subscriber or purchase a Founder’s Pack, the price of which has not yet been revealed.
What audience is the game aimed at?
The game team reported that the puzzles were simple at the start of the experience but grew in complexity as you progressed. For this main reason surely, the target audience is therefore rather aged between 25 and 35 years old.
What activities are offered?
The experience begins after meeting Merlin the Enchanter, who will get us started. Life simulation requires, players will be able to rearrange houses, create outfits, add furniture and decorations. It will also be a question of helping neighbors, as in Animal Crossing, in order to unlock new personalization elements. You will then be able to participate in various activities with them.
All the characters from Disney encountered in the game have their own narrative arc which develops through missions. These are unlocked according to the level of friendship and grant bonuses to the sandbox. For example, it is possible to unlock Remy’s restaurant (Ratatouille) as well as skins for the avatar.
What known universes can we find?
The game world is divided into large areas inspired by major Disney-Pixar films with the countryside (Mickey), the forest (Snow White), the snowy world (Frozen), the savannah (The King Lion), the swamp (The Princess and the Frog), the beach (Vaiana) and the “Forgotten land”, a universe specially designed for the game. Note also that each biome has its own unique elements useful for crafting objects or dishes.
Can the terrain be modified?
The valley can be shaped using tools such as a shovel, a watering can, a pickaxe, a fishing rod to find as you progress. These tools are quickly accessible to you via a selection wheel. The player therefore has the possibility of creating a garden using his shovel, watering seeds with the watering can, and mixing the different ingredients using the pots present in the world.
The only way to increase the level of his avatar is to interact with the heroes which allows you to do more actions in the sandbox. It is therefore not possible to spend real money to increase the energy level or improve your character: only cosmetic elements can be purchased in exchange for a few euros.
