A fraudster buys pizza for Israeli soldiers and collects half a million shekels in financial donations

Israel – The Israeli police requested an extension of the detention of a man from the Sharon area (central), who is being held on charges of committing fraud crimes worth an estimated half a million shekels, taking advantage of the Israelis’ desire to help soldiers during the war.

The 48-year-old man was arrested following a secret investigation conducted by the police in cooperation with credit companies, which revealed that the suspect had conducted this matter several times once morest commercial interests and Israelis throughout the country.

Several months ago, the Israeli police received a complaint from a pizza shop in central Jerusalem. It is clear from the complaint that the shop was the victim of a suspicious person who called them and claimed that he wanted to order dozens of pizza dishes for Israeli army soldiers as a tribute to their activity during the war in Gaza.

Shortly following this request, the suspect called the store once more and asked to send a cash donation to the soldiers as well, and asked to give the large amount of money to the person authorized to receive the pizza order and collect the money from the credit card he provided.

“i24 News” channel reported on its official website that the request included pizza dishes and a cash amount that reached tens of thousands of shekels in this case.

Days later, the store owner discovered that the transaction was made using credit card data that had been fraudulently stolen.

Following the incident, fraud investigators began a secret investigation and uncovered several other similar cases that occurred outside Jerusalem and in various cities in Israel.

In addition, the suspect was also apparently linked to executing large orders of wine and other alcoholic beverages worth tens of thousands of shekels through credit card details that he obtained through fraud.

It was also revealed during the secret investigation that the man obtained credit details from commercial institutions and Israelis in his capacity as a representative of various credit companies.

The Hebrew Channel reported that the authorities arrested the suspect at a hotel in Ashdod, southern Israel.
