To strengthen their cooperation ties, Togo and France agree to set up a framework for strategic dialogue, the details of which will be specified by mutual agreement.
The decision was taken during the visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and Togolese Abroad Prof. Robert DUSSEY this March 09 in Paris where he met his counterpart Mrs. Catherine Colonna, Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs of the French Republic.
The two personalities indeed addressed during their exchanges, the question of the new partnership between France and the African countries, where the French delegation specified the contours of this reorientation of French cooperation on the continent.
It should be noted that Togo and France have maintained good relations of friendship and cooperation for many decades.
According to a note from Togolese diplomacy, this visit by Robert Dussey to Paris reflects the desire of the two countries as well as of their Heads of State, their Excellencies Presidents Faure Gnassingbé and Emmanuel Macron, to further develop their cooperation taking into account the changes announced since 2017, concerning cooperation between France and African countries.
Various other subjects were also discussed between Minister Dussey and Ms. Colonna. These include bilateral cooperation projects that have been implemented or are in progress as well as issues of common interest at bilateral, regional and international level.
We also learn that on the economic level, Ministers Dussey and Colonna intend to work towards strengthening cooperation in the area of investment. On this aspect, it will be particularly a question of encouraging the installation of French companies within the industrial platform of Adéticopé (PIA). The agri-food, textile, pharmaceutical and automobile assembly sectors have been selected as priority sectors.
