On Wednesday February 16, the British police revealed that they had launched an investigation targeting a foundation of Prince Charles. This would have “rewarded” a Saudi businessman who made donations with an honorary title.
Decidedly, the royal family is not going through a quiet period. Indeed, following the scandal linked to the accusations of sexual assault which targeted Prince Andrew, it is the turn of his brother Prince Charles to be in the sights of justice.
Because, as noted by all of the British press this Wednesday, February 16, the foundation of Queen Elizabeth’s eldest son II is now under investigation by law enforcement.
A case that The Times rebuilt as follows :
In November 2021, letters leaked by the ‘Times’ revealed that Prince Charles’ closest adviser, Michael Fawcett, had told a Saudi donor, Mahfouz ben Mahfouz, that he would have been very happy to help him obtain an honor of the Order of the British Empire, when he asked for a donation of 10 million pounds. Michael Fawcett had also written that Prince Charles would support Mahfouz ben Mahfouz’s application for British citizenship.
The adviser has since resigned from his post, but the London daily had previously revealed that Fawcett “Had helped Mahfouz get an even bigger honorary title than what they had been discussing,” and this while the Saudi billionaire “had donated £1.5 million to the prince’s foundations”.
The ceremony for this decoration was held in November 2016 at Buckingham Palace, in the presence of Prince Charles.
Now, following the journalistic investigation, the British police have taken up the case.
A step forward in this very delicate file, which the spokespersons for the eldest son of the queen commented on as follows: “The Prince of Wales was unaware of this alleged offer of honorary title or citizenship in return for donation.”
According to The Timesthe foundation of prince Charles would actively collaborate with the police on this case.
