Korean media reported that A former employee specializes in Apple chips. Moved with Samsung already! Expected to help develop chips to compete with Apple
Former Apple chipmaker has moved to Samsung.
Business Korea reports that Kim Woo-Pyeong, a former Apple employee who joined Qualcomm in 2014, has moved to Samsung.
Kim is part of the chip development team for Apple devices, and chips have always been a focus of Apple. Trying to develop various chips on their own, including processor chips, ultrawideband, including 5G modem chips that Apple is reportedly developing on their own.
At Samsung, Kim will be the head of Packing Solution Center. In recent years, Samsung has focused on chip development as well, as TSMC, Apple are making huge leaps in chip development.
Last month, Samsung announced that it would begin manufacturing chips with a 3nm manufacturing process using its own transistor architecture.
Apple and Samsung are perpetual competitors in technology products. But pulling personnel across organizations like this, Business Korea said, “is strange” because it may affect relationships. Because even though the two companies are competitors, they are still doing business. For example, Apple orders OLED screens from Samsung, etc.
