Former Calgary Flames 1st round pick Émile Poirier signed with the Laval Rocket on Tuesday.
The agreement is for one year and has two parts.
Poirier was once one of the best prospects on the Bettman circuit, he who was chosen 22nd in the 2013 amateur auction.
The Montrealer, however, had to deal with substance abuse issues that derailed his career.
Poirier, now 27, had five points, including three goals, in 11 games in Sweden last season with Djugardens.
