A new record selling price has been reached for an iPhone. A first-generation iPhone was sold at auction on July 16 for $190,370. This is the very first iPhone model with 4 GB of storage memory, which seems to increase in value over time.
This iPhone was auctioned for two weeks. Bidding for this 2007 iPhone with 4GB started at $10,000 on June 30 and ended on July 16. Its final sale price stopped at 190,370 dollars or approximately 169,430 euros according to the current exchange rate.
Originally the very first iPhone was marketed at 499 dollars. This first smartphone from Apple then had a 3.5 inch screen and a definition of 320 × 480 pixels with a 2 megapixel camera and 4 GB storage memory. This means that the model was sold approximately 381 times more expensive compared to its launch price.
The model for sale was offered in its original box, still sealed with the original plastic.
If this model increases in value over time, it is because Apple has produced very few of them. Most commercially available versions have eight gigabytes of memory or more.
You should know that the 8 GB and 16 GB models quickly became the most popular versions than the 4 GB one, which therefore prompted the Apple brand to abandon the model in question following only a few months of marketing in favor with a higher capacity of 8 and 16 GB.
Experts expected this iPhone to be sold between $50,000 and $100,000, it finally broke a new world record.
