A first album like her

Marghe’s debut album hit stores on August 26. The young Poitevine winner of The Voice 2021 has put everything she is into it.

At the end of the line, the voice is playful and energetic, the words come out in a cascade, always with the same spontaneity. A little over a year following her victory at The Voice, on May 15, 2021, Marghe has just released her first album, Alefa. A chosen word. In Malagasy, it is an injunction to move forward. “Today, I have the feeling of evolving and breaking my shellenthusiastically entrusts the 23-year-old Poitevine. I feel like a bird starting to take flight. Before, I used to censor myself for fear of other people’s eyes. With The Voice people discovered my voice; with this album they will discover my universe, all my personality. I put a part of my soul into it. »

In contact with Jim Bauer, another finalist for the 2021 edition and co-author of the album, the singer gave free rein to who she is. “ Throughout my childhood, I was bathed in ethnic vocalizations and in the rhythms of Malagasy music. I wanted to highlight them by mixing them with modern pop. This album is a presentation of who I am, of my journey, with a song reinterpreted in Malagasy in tribute to my aunt (Editor’s note, Mampamangy, by L. Saphira). »

Two titles, Nouvelle Vie and Au Bout du monde, have already been released. Ten others are to be discovered. “In Maan, I reveal a more engaged aspect of my personality, more feministexplains Marghe. Forget everything, I wrote it when I was 18, then we co-arranged it with David (note, pianist David Henry), it therefore contains a bit of its universe… » As for Hyper, “I let Jim write it for me. The song expresses everything, it reflects my hypersensitive side. For the record, it’s the second vocal take that was kept in the album. »

“My favorite thing is the stage”

Marghe does not refrain from any musical style. “I wanted to break this thing that locked me in emotional songslaunches the singer. I love music as a whole. I want people to travel from one style to another when they listen to the album, so that my songs can live on in their daily lives. » For the young artist, nothing is more moving than seeing her mother humming or dancing her songs. Music is only valid if it is shared. So of course, “In recent months, I have had the opportunity to be in the studio, to experiment with sounds on the computer… Marghe smiled. But what I prefer is the stage, I love the human contact with the public so much! »

During the last concert of her summer road trip, the Ambassador of Madagascar gratified her with his presence. Return to his native island? One day for sure. ” I’m in contact with different associations there, my generation is being built… But I want to go when I’m ready. More generally, I want to do things little by littleMarghe says wisely.It will take time to get to know me. And if I deserve to be on this path, then the opportunities will present themselves. »
