The camp for displaced persons of the Catholic Church, called Galileo, in the center of the city of Alindao, was devastated by a violent fire on Tuesday, January 11, 2022. About 1,500 homes reduced to ash and enormous material damage recorded. It is the results of this fire which broke out in the center of the city ofAlindao. So far the causes of this tragedy have not yet been determined. For the witnesses at the scene of the fire, the fires would be caused by the improper handling of a child around 12 o’clock, blown away by the wind before spreading very quickly, and destroying in the process around 1,500 homes. No human deaths have been recorded, but the IDP site of the Catholic Church, which houses thousands of displaced people fleeing violence by armed groups since 2016, has been consumed. Note that fires of this kind are legion in the IDP camps, as in Kaga-Bandoro, Bambari and Bria. For humanitarian workers, these fires are caused by the wind and the dry season.
