A fine of up to Dh10,000 and imprisonment for leaving children alone in a car: UAE warns

Abu Dhabi: The UAE has warned that strict action will be taken against those who leave children alone in vehicles. Such persons will be punished with a fine of up to Dh10,000 and imprisonment.

Earlier, Abu Dhabi Police announced that it is a crime to leave children alone in parked vehicles without adult supervision. The police said that this is an offense punishable under the Traffic Act.

Leaving children alone in vehicles can put their lives at risk. According to the UAE Federal Law for the Protection of Children’s Rights ‘3/ 2016’, neglecting the safety of children and not having adult supervision is a crime punishable by fine and imprisonment.

The police informed about the dangers of leaving children alone inside the vehicle in the extreme heat of summer.
