A few minutes of walking a day gives you a “golden opportunity”

A Cambridge University study revealed that one in 10 people will live longer if they walk more than 10 minutes a day.

Persistence in walking daily, reduces the risk of heart disease or cancer and many other diseases.

Study author Dr. Soren Bragg said: “If you think that persevering with walking is a bit daunting, the results of our study will inevitably change your point of view.”

The study found that only 1 in 3 people actually get the 150 minutes of weekly exercise they should do.

She emphasized that those who practiced physical activity for 150 minutes a week enjoyed excellent physical health, noting that those who moved less than that had better health than those who did not engage in any physical activity or sports.

And an average of 75 minutes a week reduced the risk of cancer by 7 percent and the risk of heart disease by 17 percent.

Exercise improves your health by promoting blood circulation to the heart and brain, reducing blood sugar and fat levels, in addition to eliminating obesity.

“Try walking or cycling to work instead of using the car,” said Dr. Leandro Garcia, a co-author of the study. “Doing activities you enjoy is an excellent way to become more active.”
