A festival and concert will be held in Chernivtsi to celebrate Volodymyr Ivasyuk’s 75th birthday

On Monday, March 4, the famous Bukovyna composer and singer Volodymyr Ivasyuk would have turned 75 years old. On this occasion, a gala concert of the VodograyFest music festival and a theatrical concert “For a son. Elegies” will be held in Chernivtsi.

As reported by Ukrinform, this was reported Chernivtsi City Council and regional music and drama theater named after Olga Kobylyanska.

“Volodymyr Ivasiuk is a composer and singer who wrote his name in history. Today he would have turned 75 years old. And the people of Chernivtsi honor his memory with the VodograyFest gala concert. “Red Ruta”, “Vodogray”, “The song will be between us” , “I will go to the distant mountains” is a legacy that has lived in the hearts of Ukrainians for many years. His music will be performed today by the contestants in the Chernivtsi Cinema Concert Hall, the message says.

The concert will start at 18:00, admission is free.

In addition, a theatrical concert “For my son. Elegies” will be held tonight in the Chernivtsi Regional Music and Drama Theater. Poems will be read by honored education worker Andrii Tsyganok. And the musical accompaniment of the theatrical concert will be created by Augusta Shishkina, laureate of international and all-Ukrainian competitions, People’s Artist of Ukraine Pavlo Chebotov and Honored Artist of Ukraine Lyudmila Shapko. The director of the action is Ivan Butnyak.

The start of the theatrical concert is also at 18:00. Tickets can be purchased at the theater box office. The price ranges from 150 to 250 hryvnias.

Volodymyr Ivasiuk is an outstanding Ukrainian composer and poet, one of the founders of Ukrainian pop music. He was born on March 4, 1949. Author of 107 songs, 53 instrumental works, music for several plays. Hero of Ukraine, laureate of the Taras Shevchenko National Award (1994, posthumously). Died young under unknown circumstances in the Bryukhovytskyi forest near Lviv. The official version is suicide.
