A fan created a REAL portable PlayStation 5, and it makes you want it

Last November, Sony launched PlayStation Portal, a peripheral for portable gaming of the PS5. Except that it wasn’t exactly what players expected, because it’s actually a remote screen; you still need to have the original PlayStation 5 turned on. The Portal is not a console itself, it is more of a Wii U than a Switch.

But YouTuber Matthew Perks from the DIY Perks channel has achieved the feat of truly creating a portable PS5 – clearly voiding the warranty in the process. He uses the console’s original motherboard, which he says is virtually everything the console needs to function like a regular PS5. It still took almost four years to achieve this feat, including the difficult task of ensuring sufficient ventilation in such a small device to avoid overheating.

On the screen side, his portable PS5 is equipped with a 14-inch 4K OLED, taken directly from a faulty Alienware laptop and to which he added two 5-watt speakers on a mini-subwoofer for sound. Finally, the battery is still quite limited, since the bousin still requires a power of 200 watts, but a simple socket allows this PS5-tablet to be functional continuously. Well, if it’s not a Switch either, the DIY Perks portable PS5 is still 50% smaller and lighter than a classic PS5; enough to be able to carry it in your backpack.
