The family of the American singer and actress, Coco Lee, announced the suicide of the young artist at the age of 48, following suffering from years of depression, on Wednesday evening.
Lee’s sister explained, through her official account on “Instagram”, regarding the deterioration of her psychological condition during the past few months, and that despite the start of her recovery, she decided to take her life, and regarding her recent repeated attempts to commit suicide, and she was transferred to a hospital, following which she entered a coma.
And she received psychiatric treatment in an attempt to overcome depression, but it overcame her, and “Lee” died in a hospital in Hong Kong where she stayed during the past few days.
Coco Lee was born on January 17, 1976 in Hong Kong, and she participated in a number of cinematic works that became famous because of her, most notably the romantic movie “Runaway Bride” in 1999, and the Oscar-winning movie “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon” in 2000, in addition to her fame as an actress. “Lee” is considered one of the most prominent musicians and worked on a number of the most famous soundtracks for a number of films, the most important of which is “Rush Hour 2” in 2001, and the live version of the animated movie “Mulan” in 2020, and her last participation was by singing a song in the series “Soul Land 2”: The Peerless Tang Clan”.
