Iranian actress Shahri Lorestani sparked widespread controversy on social media, following she shocked her audience, in an audio recording, by revealing that she had changed her identity and turned her into a “man” under the name “Maziar”, according to what was published by the BBC.
In an audio recording of her, the 56-year-old Iranian actress said, “I am no longer a woman following FMGF, and I planned to legally change my name to Mazyar. I hope I can continue my work as an artist with my new identity.”
Shahry, who has played roles in theater and television, pointed out that her name on the birth certificate is still Shahry Rostani, but “accordingly and legally” she is no longer a woman.
The artist indicated that she is not married, and she is from a family of five, and she has one sister and a brother, and her father died last year.
The Iranian artist was born in 1966 in Tehran, in 1990 she graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts, and in 1994, she graduated in the field of screenwriting. During her career, Shahry played many roles in cinema, television and theater.
