Prepare Twitter co-founder, Jack Dorsey, one of the world’s most famous tech billionaires, but one of the secrets of his success is much simpler than you think.
Adam Brotman, who spent nearly a decade as Starbucks’ chief digital officer and executive vice president of global retail operations, alongside Dorsey during his time at the coffee giant’s partnership with Twitter and Square revealed some details.
“I’m a huge Jack Dorsey fan, and the biggest lesson I’ve learned from observing and working with him is that he’s very clear regarding what he’s doing and why he’s doing it, whether it’s on a macro or micro level,” Brottman said.
One of the important things that helped make Dorsey a successful person, Brottman noted, was that Dorsey took detailed notes on every conversation during business meetings.
Once, he said, he decided to ask Dorsey what the purpose of these notes was. “I share these notes with my entire company,” he replied, adding that he has been incredibly transparent with his team regarding various processes and decisions.
Brotman added that setting clear goals and good listening are two of the qualities that made Dorsey an “effective leader”, and they are qualities that others must direct in their work if they are to be successful, according to what he told CNBC and reviewed by Al Arabiya.net.
“There are certain patterns that you start to notice among the great leaders in business,” Brottman said, and the note taking speaks to Dorsey’s broader approach to leading Twitter and Block (formerly Square).
As he considered the second important quality of Nagach Dorsey, he was always very calm, clear regarding what he was doing and why, and even in times of his knowledge and ignorance, he was never emotional or random – just consistent and clear.
