The Meteorological Authority in Lebanon stated, “The effect of Storm Farah continues on Lebanon and the eastern basin of the Mediterranean, where rain falls and is accompanied by thunderstorms and winds. Temperatures drop significantly, as snow touches 600 meters on Tuesday and Wednesday in the northern regions. On Wednesday followingnoon, cold north polar winds dominate, leading to the formation of ice on mountain and internal roads, with a wave of frost that will continue until Saturday, when temperatures begin to rise.
And it warned in a statement, of “flying slabs, the formation of torrents, and the accumulation of snow on mountain roads,” and continued: “The average temperature for the month of February ranged from 11.4 0 to 19.2 0 Celsius.”
The Authority expected the weather in the coming days: “Tuesday: cloudy in general, with an additional and tangible decrease in temperatures, which become 3 degrees below their seasonal averages, and fog forms on the highlands. Before noon, snow falls at an altitude of 900 meters during the day, and the level of precipitation decreases during the night, so it touches at dawn on Wednesday 600 meters, especially in the north of the country, so please be careful while driving some mountain roads due to the accumulation of snow, as it is expected to be cut off.
And she added: “Wednesday: cloudy to partly cloudy, with a continued decrease in temperatures (5 degrees below their seasonal averages). The cold polar over the country during the night, which leads to a wave of frost and forms layers of ice on the roads that exceed 600 meters, so please be careful while driving to avoid slips.
Thursday: Partly cloudy with sporadic light rain falling during the morning period with some snow at an altitude of 700 meters. The weather gradually improves in most Lebanese regions and turns during the day to few clouds with a slight rise in temperatures, which remain below their seasonal averages, with the exception of the towns of Akkar and the northern Bekaa. Ice forms on mountain roads during the early morning and night hours, which leads to car skids.
Friday: little clouds with low temperatures, so we warn once morest the formation of ice on roads that exceed 700 meters at night and early morning hours.
