A driver seriously injured and airlifted after a violent crash this Tuesday in Elsenborn!

Firefighters, police and ambulance blocked the National 647 which connects Sourbrodt (Waimes) to the camp of Elsenborn this Tuesday, at the end of the afternoon. In question, a violent road accident which occurred between a Volkswagen T6 van and a Seat Ibiza around 4 p.m., near the chip shop at Alina.

For some unknown reason, the two vehicles collided. The driver of the Seat was heading towards Elsenborn when he met the van which was coming in the opposite direction. They collided on the driver’s side, on the left flank, reports our colleague from Grenz Echo.

The shock is violent, so much so that the Volkswagen rolls over several times. Fortunately, the driver of the van was only slightly injured and was admitted to the Reine Astrid Hospital Clinic in Malmedy. The driver of the Seat was much less lucky.

The Bra-sur-Lienne medical helicopter intervened on the scene and took care of the unfortunate. He was transported in serious condition to the University Hospital of Liège. A car expert mandated by the Eupen public prosecutor’s office was still expected on site shortly after 6 p.m. The road remains closed to traffic until he has made all the findings.
