This Saturday morning, around 6:45 a.m., a particularly violent accident took place in Trazegnies, at the crossroads formed by rue de la Croisette and rue de la Soupe. According to the first elements collected on the spot by our photographer Fabian Van Hove, a BMW driving rue de la Croisette and coming from Souvret towards Trazegnies might not avoid a collision with a Volkswagen car arriving on its left from rue de la Soupe.

As a result of the collision, the two vehicles collided with several parked cars. Residential facades were also affected. The BMW, just following the collision, came to a stop in the middle of the road regarding 50 meters from the place of impact before catching fire. Luckily, the driver of the vehicle managed to get out of the cabin, escaping the worst.

An extricated driver

The driver of the Volkswagen was less fortunate. Seriously injured, the latter was extricated by Jumet firefighters. Two ambulances and an SMUR took care of the two injured drivers. The driver of the Volkswagen, in critical condition, was transported to the CHU Marie Curie in Lodelinsart. The driver of the BMW was taken to the Notre Dame de Charleroi site.

According to information collected on the spot, the latter seemed under the influence of the drink… An expert from the prosecution came down on the spot. TEC bus traffic has been diverted. The Montebello convenience store took care of the damaged vehicles.

The Trieux police zone established the report. The road was closed to traffic while the emergency services intervened. This is not the first time that serious accidents have occurred on site. Several residents, exasperated by the dangerousness of the intersection, have also led a petition to install a stop sign.
