Alain Dremière, RTBF journalist, took his own life on Tuesday 14 February. The 44-year-old man jumped from the 10th floor of the building housing the premises of the public television channel. “Faced with this tragedy, it is time for sadness and meditation, out of respect for what he was, his family and his many friends and many girlfriends,” RTBF reported on Wednesday morning.
An open investigation
As stated by the public television channel, an investigation has been opened to lift the veil on the exact circumstances of the journalist’s death. “A psychological unit has been set up for employees who so wish,” added RTBF.
The deceased journalist worked for many years for the public television channel. Originally from Hainaut, he notably operated as an editor of the television news and as an editor for the RTBF website.
