A donation that not only provides warmth during Advent

“If I didn’t work, I might get more,” says Hakim F. (name changed by the editors), “but I don’t want that. I want to earn my own money.”

Hakim is Syrian and came to Austria more than eight years ago. He has long since spoken German well and has worked as a painter ever since. But now the apartment that they now live with their little son has become too small for him and his wife, reports Alois Bichler, chairman of the Sängerlust Ternberg-Trattenbach, who got to know Hakim as an honest and hard-working person: “Only one bedroom with one “Child, that wasn’t possible anymore. So he rented an old, slightly larger house that was the same price as the apartment.” In the past few weeks, Hakim has renovated the rooms, filled the walls and freshly painted them. However, he now lacks the money for his heating and furniture.

“He told me that he was just going to heat one room with a radiant heater,” says Bichler, “but Hakim didn’t take into account that the electricity costs would be extremely high. That’s why I have now launched the ‘Donations give warmth’ campaign .”

With this campaign you can purchase a heating voucher for the Syrian family for around 10, 20 or 30 euros so that they can use the regular heating system. Bichler: “I hope that a sum for at least 1000 liters of heating oil will be raised by mid-December, because less than that will not be delivered.” If more donations come together, an additional bed or box will be bought for the family: “Please help so that this family can be unexpectedly given a beautiful Christmas child.”
