In a town in the US state of Kentucky, a dog managed to become the mayor after a tough competition.
The results of the US presidential election came out yesterday after several days of waiting.
But it was not only the presidential election but also state governorship, congressional and senate elections.
In the town of Rabbit Hush, Wilbur Best, a 6-month-old French bulldog, was elected mayor and announced by Lady Stone, acting as the town’s ambassador.
He said that this result came out in the most important election of this year.
The new mayor’s owner, Amy Noland, 43, attributed the success to her dog’s enthusiastic strategy.
“He ran a huge campaign, was everywhere on social media and hosted several events,” he said.
You may not know but since 1988 that is 32 years since 1988 only dogs have been elected mayor.
So why are dogs chosen for this position? The reason for this is quite interesting.
In the town of Rabbit Hush, the election is primarily a fundraiser, as the 3 1/2-acre town is managed by the Rabbit Hush Historical Society.
The vote for this town is not limited to its citizens, but anyone from all over the world can vote for the mayor and for each vote, one dollar must be paid, which will go to the fund allocated for the management of the town.
Amy Noland had wanted her dog to run for a long time ‘I live a few miles from this town, it’s a special town, where I’ve been going since I was a child’.
In order to participate in the mayoral election, each candidate’s owner’s residence must be within an hour’s walking distance of the town.
The success of Wilbur Best has brought him and Amy Noland worldwide attention.
Amy Noland said, ‘I’ve had messages from several people thanking me, because it gave them something positive to see in the current situation.’
Wilbur Best received 13,143 of the 22,985 votes cast, giving the town an opportunity to raise $22,985.

Interview with Lady Stone, Ambassador of Rabbit Hush, Kentucky
Editor: Thank you for joining us today, Lady Stone. It’s not every day we hear of a dog being elected mayor! Can you tell us a bit about how Wilbur Best the French bulldog became the mayor of Rabbit Hush?
Lady Stone: Thank you for having me! The election was truly a remarkable event for our town. Wilbur’s campaign captured the hearts of the community, and his adorable personality really shone through. His platform was all about spreading joy, and I think people were ready for a light-hearted change.
Editor: It sounds like a campaign built on good vibes. Were there any specific issues Wilbur focused on, or was it more about the fun of having a dog in office?
Lady Stone: Well, it was a bit of both! While his campaign emphasized fun and community spirit, there were also serious undertones, like promoting animal welfare and community gatherings. The residents loved the idea of having a ‘mayor’ who is focused on happiness and inclusivity.
Editor: In the backdrop of a significant presidential election, how do you think Wilbur’s election as mayor reflects the current political climate in the US?
Lady Stone: It’s interesting, isn’t it? While the presidential election has its serious stakes, our town’s choice to elect a dog signifies a desire for change and a break from traditional politics. It shows that people want to see more joy in leadership, and it can serve as a reminder that government can be community-focused at a grassroots level.
Editor: What’s next for Wilbur as the newly elected mayor? Any plans for his first actions in office?
Lady Stone: Absolutely! Wilbur plans to hold a series of community events starting with ‘Bark-toberfest’, where families can come together to celebrate our furry friends. We’re also starting an initiative to support local shelters. It’s all about bringing the community together and having a good time while doing good.
Editor: That sounds fantastic! Thank you for sharing Wilbur’s journey with us. It’ll be exciting to see how both he and the town evolve in the upcoming months.
Lady Stone: Thank you! We’re all very excited, and I believe Wilbur will do a fantastic job bringing our town closer together.
Editor: That’s wonderful to hear! It’s amazing how a light-hearted campaign can bring people together. I understand that it wasn’t just the residents who voted. Can you explain how people from around the world got involved in Wilbur’s election?
Lady Stone: Absolutely! The election is unique in that it serves as a fundraiser for our town, managed by the Rabbit Hush Historical Society. Anyone from anywhere can vote for only a dollar, which goes into our town’s management fund. This really opened up the opportunity for a wide audience to participate and support Wilbur’s campaign.
Editor: That’s an interesting approach! How has the response been after Wilbur’s victory? I imagine it has brought quite a bit of attention to Rabbit Hush.
Lady Stone: Yes, it certainly has! There has been an outpouring of love and support, not just locally but globally. Many people reached out to Amy, Wilbur’s owner, thanking her for bringing happiness during challenging times. With over 13,000 votes cast for Wilbur, we raised a significant amount of funds for our community!
Editor: It must feel rewarding to see the town come together like this. What do you think Wilbur’s victory symbolizes for Rabbit Hush and beyond?
Lady Stone: Wilbur’s win symbolizes a desire for positivity and joy in leadership. In a world that can often seem divided and heavy, having a dog in the mayor’s office reminds us all to cherish happiness, community, and support one another. It’s a wonderful message for everyone, and I think it inspires other communities to think creatively about leadership!
