Neurologist Zaid Ghanem revealed, on Wednesday evening, the fact that he was dismissed from his work at the Palestine Medical Complex in Ramallah by the Ministry of Health, which caused a sensation among doctors.

Dr. Ghanem said in an exclusive statement to “Dunia Al-Watan”: “In fact, I was transferred from the Palestine Medical Complex in Ramallah to Tulkarm Governmental Hospital, and not permanently dismissed,” considering this a “punishment and arbitrary transfer.”

He attributed the reason for his transfer, according to his preferences, to a dispute between him and the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health in the West Bank, Dr. Wael Al-Sheikh because of his demand not to write expensive medications for chronic multiple sclerosis (MS), and this is what burdens the ministry.

Dr. Ghanem continued: “When I was asked to reduce my writing of expensive medicines, my response to them was that I write the medicine that the patient needs according to his health condition, and that they are patients who are not my relatives,” adding: “And other reasons for the dispute is that I did not respond to a call from Dr. Sheikh because I was He’s busy with my clinic and I don’t know his private number.”

He concluded his statements by saying: “When communicating with Dr. Al-Sheikh, he revealed to me his decision to transfer me from the Palestine Medical Complex in Ramallah to Tulkarm Hospital.” He asked: “Why are there no other methods of punishment, such as communicating with my administration or drawing attention?”

And when “Dunia Al-Watan” communicated with the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health in the West Bank, Dr. Wael Al-Sheikh, who in turn confirmed that there were no differences between him and Dr. Ghanem, which led him to arbitrarily transfer him from his workplace in the Palestine Complex in Ramallah to Tulkarm Hospital.

Dr. Al-Sheikh said: “What happened was a transfer because of the Tulkarm Governmental Hospital’s need for a neurologist, in addition to the fact that Dr. Ghanem is a resident of Tulkarm, not Ramallah.”

He continued: “We transferred him for two purposes, the first: the Tulkarm Hospital needed a doctor, and the second was to bring the distance to Dr. Ghanem, as he was disbursing 1,000 shekels per month as a transportation allowance other than his salary, which was disbursed to him over the past 10 years throughout his work at the Palestine Medical Complex. “.
