Dr. Adel Imam, Professor of Cardiology at the Heart Institute in Imbaba, said that the rapid heart rate is divided into two types, the first is atrial fibrillation and the other is ventricular fibrillation.
Imam added that ventricular fibrillation is more dangerous than atrial fibrillation, stressing the need to visit a doctor immediately following feeling an irregular heartbeat.
The professor of cardiology explained that the disturbance of the heart rhythm leads to blood clots in the atria, which increases the risk of developing blood clots.
He stressed that blood clots resulting from arrhythmia may travel through the bloodstream to some vital organs, such as the liver, kidneys and brain.
