Russia – Dr. Bator Gonchikov, a specialist in urology and andrology, indicates that frequent nocturnal urination is a disorder of the urinary system, which may be linked to various causes and diseases.
According to him, nocturnal urination may be a symptom of polyuria, which is characterized by excessive production and secretion of urine.
“The cause of polyuria can be diabetes, diabetic nephropathy, diabetic cystitis, or diabetic neuropathy,” he said in an interview with Gazeta.Ru. Because in this case, the body produces a large amount of urine, which leads to nocturnal urination.”
He indicates that nocturia may be due to drinking a lot of water or fluids before sleep, or taking diuretics. The cause may be heart failure and kidney problems. Or it may indicate cystitis, which is usually accompanied by pain in the lower abdomen and during urination and a feeling that the bladder has not been completely emptied.
“Some kidney diseases, such as chronic kidney failure or kidney infection, can lead to nocturia,” he says. “Patients with kidney problems often need to urinate frequently and wake up at night to go to the toilet.”
According to him, nocturnal urination in men might be related to prostatitis, because one of the symptoms of the disease is frequent and painful urination, including waking up at night. Or it is due to benign prostatic hyperplasia, which puts pressure on the bladder, causing it to shrink in size and thus increasing the frequency of urination.
Concluding his speech, he says: “Of course, these are some of the reasons. Therefore, if such a problem appears, it is necessary to consult a specialist doctor to accurately diagnose the cause and prescribe the appropriate treatment.”
