The events date back to Friday, around 6:00 p.m., in Roeselare. Louis G. deliberately mowed down a cyclist to get him off the road. He then fled by car. A witness filmed the scene and the suspect’s father-in-law called the police soon following, having noticed serious damage to the vehicle.
The driver said he was angry with the company and wanted to do something regarding the overcrowding problem. He tested positive for drugs. The victim was briefly in critical condition but his life is no longer in danger, prosecutors said on Saturday.
The driver’s divorced parents are in shock. According to information from our colleagues at HLN, Louis G. does not seem to have many friends and is described by those around him as someone “difficult to pin down” and “sometimes with strange ideas”.
The 21-year-old motorist was brought before an investigating judge on Saturday. He was placed under arrest warrant for attempted murder. A psychiatrist has been appointed to carry out an expertise and Louis G. will appear before the Courtrai court on Tuesday.
