The demonstration was launched at the call of the Defense Committee of the Lannion-Trestel hospital with the slogan: “Emergencies in danger, neither regulation nor closure”. Around 2,000 people demonstrated on Saturday in Lannion to defend the hospital’s emergency department, we learned from the Côtes-d’Armor prefecture.
In a press release published on Facebook, LFI deputy for Côtes-d’Armor Murielle Lepvraud denounced the “policies of regulation and dismantling of our public health services”. As in several hospitals in France recently, the emergency rooms of Lannion have several times been regulated at night, that is to say that patients must call 15 before possibly being able to present themselves there. A measure that might once more be put in place.
Six months of regulation?
“The Regional Health Agency plans to close the emergency rooms of the Lannion-Trestel hospital at night, for a period of six months, from March to September 2024. This decision would endanger the lives of people by forcing them to travel long distances to receive the necessary assistance,” said the MP.
According to the hospital’s website, more than 25,000 visits to the emergency room were recorded in 2022.
