An official delegation of mayors of the municipalities of the Mauritanian capital Nouakchott paid a visit to Tangier on Wednesday to learn regarding the experience of the city in the various fields, particularly economic and tourism.
The Mauritanian delegation, which was received by the President of the Commune of Tangier, Mounir Laymouri, accompanied by the President of the Moroccan Association of Heads of Communal Councils, Mohamed Boudra, and several local officials and elected officials, is led by Ahmed Ali , Vice-President of the Association of Mayors of Mauritania and President of the Association of Mayors of Nouakchott, and composed of Mohamed El Amine Chaïb, Vice-President of the Association of Mauritanian Mayors and Mayor of the Municipality of Toujounine, El Hacen Mohamed Ileh, Mayor of the Municipality of Arafat, Abdellah Idriss, Mayor of the Municipality of Riyadh, and Sidi Khalifa, Secretary General of the Association of Mayors of Mauritania.
According to a statement from the municipality of Tangier, Mr. Laymouri welcomed the Mauritanian delegation, expressing his joy at welcoming representatives from a Maghreb country, neighbor and brother who shares ties of affection and fraternity with the Kingdom of Morocco.
In this regard, he affirmed his desire to work for the strengthening of Moroccan-Mauritanian bilateral relations, in particular between Tangier and Nouakchott, which the two parties seek to develop through the exchange of experiences and openness to initiatives. construction and development projects.
For his part, the head of the Mauritanian delegation stressed that this visit is an opportunity for the members of the delegation to benefit from the experience of the city of Detroit in the field of municipal management, and to draw inspiration from the structuring projects launched in the economic and tourism fields, and those related to infrastructure, green spaces and public squares.
The Mauritanian delegation paid a visit to Nouakchott Square, located at the intersection of Youssef Ibn Tachfine Street and Beethoven Boulevard, which was inaugurated under the terms of the cooperation and partnership agreement between Tangier and the Municipal Council of the city of Nouakchott, approved by the Municipal Council of Tangier, during its ordinary session in February 2015.
