Everything for the children: mothers have a common goal.

We are all mums, and the fact that we fight for our children connects us with an invisible steel bond that men have absolutely no idea regarding. A declaration of love to the friendships between mothers in their 50s.
Seighteen hours with eight friends in Berlin. We met to see the Helmut Newton exhibition “Legacy” and to spend time together. The first time once more, following almost two Corona years. Of course Helmut was great. The pictures of his wife June were even greater. But the greatest thing was the fireworks display of funny, honest, sad, weird conversations between the friends. Non-stop conversations on the S-Bahn, in the stairwell, in the museum, in the café, on the street, at the cash register. Across toilet walls. And it became clear to me like never before: These women, my friends, whom I call “the Pearls”, are above all – mums. And they carry the globe.
You studied law (many), economics (some) and humanities (a few). Some run their own family businesses, others have given up working outside the home with two, three or four children.
