The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) in the United States has issued a warning that an outbreak of Candida auris is raging in the territory. It is a fungus rather resistant to known antifungals and which worries specialists mainly with regard to the health of more vulnerable people. The scientific manager of the mycology sector at the Quebec Public Health Laboratory, Philippe Dufresne, wants to be reassuring. He clarifies that we are not afraid of a pandemic like that of COVID-19, or a large fungal epidemic like in the television series. The Last of Us. He adds, however, that Quebec is monitoring the situation closely, and has been preparing for it since 2016.
