Like every winter, the lights that illuminate the porches and front gardens of the residences inspired by the small American towns of the early 20th century; the fiestas that spread out among decorations, costumes and (artificial) snowflakes, and the carols that navigate the wide tree-lined avenues before flowing into the peaceful waters of the lake, make the mythical community of Celebrationon the outskirts of Orlando, in a paradise halfway between reality and fantasy that finds its most radiant expression at Christmas parties.
Developed in the 1990s around Rianhard Lake by the real estate arm of The Walt Disney Company, the Celebration development project – spread out in the immediate vicinity of the legendary amusement parks – is an extension of the metropolitan fantasies promoted by Walt himself. Disney, and the perfect setting for its residents to unleash their most strident Christmas aspirations today.
Throughout December, a series of seasonal experiences – including carriage rides, special restaurant menus, photos with Santa Claus, ice skating and, on select days, a recreation of Bethlehem, complete with food stalls and handicrafts, choirs of Christmas carols and neighbors dressed as Roman soldiers- add to the exuberant spectacle of lights, nativity scenes and giant decorations arranged in many of the 4,300 homes that make up the town, to attract the hundreds of visitors that we find in the Christmas, the perfect excuse to explore one of the most unique communities in the United States, where imagination and the festive spirit are an inseparable part of urban design. celebration.fl.us
