Vitamin B12 helps the body form red blood cells and maintains a healthy nervous system. A deficiency of the vitamin can cause a wide range of problems, including heart palpitations.
The NHS described the condition: “You may feel like your heart is beating irregularly, often for a few seconds or minutes. You may also feel these sensations in your throat or neck. In most cases, heart palpitations are harmless and not a sign of a serious problem.
According to Patient.info, a “palpitating heart” is a less common symptom of a vitamin B12 deficiency, and the health website says the most common symptoms include:
Tired.
idleness.
feeling faint
Cells in other parts of the body may be affected if you lack vitamin B12. The resulting psychological problems may include: depression, confusion, difficulty with memory, or even dementia.
