A DANCING FLOOR AT THE MUSEUM OF FINE ARTS

At the Museum of Fine Arts (MBA), visitors currently have a choice. They can opt for the permanent exhibition and the New born by Georges LaTour. But many choose the temporary, not without a certain delight. Entitled Not tired, this new event invites you to a unique and unusual, playful and interactive experience. It offers a funk, rock followingnoon in a place where people are more used to whispering and listening wisely to tour guides.

Without hesitation, the inhabitants of Rennes must push the heavy door of the Museum to rediscover their festive atmospheres of yesteryear (or discover them for the little ones). Once inside, the mirrorball by Cécile Paris will set the tempo. It will invite you to sway your hips subtly on the Dance-Floor by Piotr Uklański or to dance virtually with Marina Abramovic. Unless he prefers to isolate himself in the Single Disco by Bernhard Martin where he will live a unique experience in a nightclub all to himself!

Leaving this original discotheque, visitors will leave with the absurd desire to gossip under strobe lighting. He might scream Be Amazing like the title of a luminous work exhibited at the MBA. “The party is really part of the history of Rennes, with the Trans Musicales, the rue de la Soif… And following all these confinements, there is an imperative need to have a fair. By imagining this retrospective, we bet that 2022 was going to be the twilight of the pandemic”, explains Etienne Bernard (Frac Bretagne).

Far from traditional exhibitions, Pas Sommeil is a cultural and musical interlude in a summer that will hopefully be festive. As Jean-Roch Bouiller (curator of the Museum of Fine Arts) says, we will come out of ourselves, we will disguise ourselves (without a mask!) and we will become someone else. We will allow ourselves things that we would not normally do. And that is the whole purpose of this beautiful exhibition.
