On December 7 at 7 p.m., Diffusion Momentum, through its special Artère program, offers an opportunity for everyone to discover the extent of the possibilities of the world of contemporary dance by offering the show Èbe to the public free of charge. Presented as part of the Hydro-Québec Culture Series, this show is a choreographic and sound installation that brings together flamenco dancer Sarah Bronsard, audio performer Patrick Saint-Denis and five robot accordions on stage.
Wonderfully mixing dance and robotics, this performance proves how much this discipline can have fun in many ways and never ceases to amaze us.
About the show
Characters in their own right, these robot accordions evoke a human presence and contest a certain evolution in the representation of the body. Ebe, which means “ebbing tide”, is also interested in the phenomenon of the tides, the fluctuation of which evokes an immense breath. Following the metaphor of what is revealed when the water recedes, Èbe explores the communication dimension of the breath. The unconscious adjustment of breathing to that of accordions, like the hypnotizing effect of the sea, reveal the power of what is beyond us and directs us beyond our individual questions.
An opportunity to learn more regarding the artists and their creative process
From the outset, the show will begin with a presentation of the robotics research work that led to the show. The artists will also give some keys to understanding the technologies involved in the show. Much appreciated by the public, this audiovisual introduction allows you to dive into the poetics of the work without worrying regarding its mechanical aspect. A discussion will follow the performance during which the public will be invited to discuss and question the artists.
The presentation of this show is made possible thanks to the special programming developed for Artère, a project granted through the Fund for reengagement with the public for organizations working in the presentation of professional performances of Canadian Heritage.
The show is free, but places are limited and must be reserved by visiting www.lecarre150.com or by calling 819 752-9912.
