We all feel price increases and inflation, but a hundred years ago, in the summer of 1923, everything was much worse, hyperinflation was raging, a dinner in Berlin cost millions, in Vienna the crown amounts rose to cosmic levels. Only when the League of Nations and other countries helped and sent the Rotterdam guard Alfred Rudolf Zimmermann to Vienna, where he resided in the Augarten Palace and checked the sealing of the printing press, did things slowly improve and the schilling then proved to be a stable currency.
