Asuncion, IP Agency.- Following the fire that broke out yesterday afternoon in the Costanera area of Asunción, the Ministry of Children and Adolescents (Minna) is evaluating the creation of a containment area for children whose homes were affected by the fire.
It is estimated that some 80 children saw their homes affected by the flames, so the space will be made available while the clean-up work in the affected area continues and the relocation of the families is being evaluated, reported the director of Risk at Minna, Lourdes Fernández.
He said that coordination has already been made with the Ministry of Education (MEC) to ensure that children can continue going to school. They will be provided with school kits and other facilities will be offered.
The Ministry of Health was also assisted and provided medical care to all those affected. The Hospital de Barrio Obrero, whose professionals provided services in the shelter set up, did not report any burns or smoke inhalation.
In total, 39 homes were consumed by flames in the area of the Urban Police station on the Costanera of Asunción.
The Chief of Staff of the Municipality of Asunción, Nelson Mora, said that the relocation of the homes of the families who had been temporarily placed there after the floods in Chacarita should be evaluated with the National Government.
The Minister of Housing, Juan Carlos Baruja, Indian that a plot of land must be found that meets the conditions in order to locate the families close to where they were living.
