A “consultant” reveals the second most common cancer in the Kingdom… and identifies two causes of infection • Al Marsad Newspaper

Al-Marsad newspaper: Imad Al-Jahdali, a consultant gastroenterologist, said that colon cancer is the second most common disease in the Kingdom, and fast food increases the chances of contracting the disease, according to the statistics of the Saudi National Registry in 2013.

Al-Jahdali added, in an intervention on the Al-Ekhbariya channel: Colon cancer occupies the first place in deaths due to cancers, and the main reason for its occurrence is the formation of polyps and genetic abnormalities within the walls of the colon with age or an increase in the opportunity within some high-risk families, which leads to the formation of tumor masses that lead to cancer.

He continued, “The main factor is advancing age, and according to studies, people over 45 years old are most susceptible to infection and the formation of protrusions and polyps within the colon.”

He continued: The second reason is the increase in obesity and fast food, and all of these lead to changes within the walls of the colon.
