A conference to raise awareness of colorectal cancer screening in Nevers

Doctors, surgeons, oncologists, radiotherapists and nurses will be there to animate this conference. A conference open to patients, the general public and healthcare professionals alike. On Thursday March 10, the cancerology coordination center of the Nevers basin (3C), associated with the Polyclinic of the Loire Valley and the radiotherapy center, is organizing a conference on colorectal cancer as part of Mars Bleu, in Nevers.

The main objective is to inform regarding the importance of screening for this disease. Aside from screening, professionals will talk regarding potential treatments and potential specific care.

95% of people affected are over 50 years old

The 3C recalls that colorectal cancer is the third most common cancer and the second deadliest in France today. 40,000 new cases are detected each year. The vast majority of sufferers (95%) are over 50 years old.

Family history is a risk factor: a person is twice as likely to have this cancer if a family member from the previous generation has had it. There are also risk factors with lifestyle habits or pathologies (diabetes, inflammatory bowel disease, etc.). But the 3C reminds us that nine times out of ten, colorectal cancer can be treated if it is detected at an early stage. Knowing that the test is free.

Practice. Conference, Thursday March 10, at 7 p.m., at the Ducal Palace, in Nevers (Henriette de Clèves room). Vaccination pass required. Dinner buffet.
