A computer failure forced the suspension of thousands of flights throughout the United States.

The Federal Aviation Administration of USA (FAA, for its acronym in English) gave the green light this Wednesday to the exits of the domestic flights that he had previously ordered to suspend due to a computer problem.

In a message on Twitter, the FAA indicated that “normal operations of air traffic are gradually resuming in EU following a nocturnal failure of the Air Mission Notification System that provides security information to the flight crews”.

It added that it continues to investigate the cause of the initial problem. Despite this announcement, the number of delays has increased and, according to the Flightaware flight tracker, there are already 4,013 delayed flights in the country.

Earlier this morning, the FAA had served notice of its order that all US domestic flight departures be postponed until 9:00 a.m. Eastern Time (2:00 p.m. GMT) due to a failure in the Notification system. Area Missions.

After the suspension of services, the FAA reported progress in restoring the damaged system and the first flight departures resumed at Newark Liberty and Atlanta airports “due to traffic congestion air traffic in those areas.”

There is no proof of cyberattack

The Air Mission Notification System is a procedure that provides essential information to personnel related to flight operations and warns in real time of abnormal status in the US aerospace system.

The president of USAJoe Biden, was informed by the Secretary of Transportation, Pete Buttigieg, of the failure in the control system of the air spaceWhite House spokeswoman Karine Jean-Pierre reported in a tweet.

“There is no proof of a cyberattack at the moment,” Jean-Pierre said, adding that Biden has ordered a full investigation to find out what caused it.

The US had suffered air chaos two weeks ago, although then it was due to the passage of winter storm Elliot, which caused thousands of flight cancellations. (EFE)
