“A Complete Unknown” trailer is here: Timothée Chalamet as young Bob Dylan

The first trailer for the film “A Complete Unknown”, directed by James Mangold and set to open in the US in December, shows Chalamet’s transformation into the young folk musician in 1960s New York.

In one scene, he walks past the Chelsea Hotel in New York, where Dylan lived for a time. He walks through the city with his guitar to his first gigs, accompanied by the iconic song “A Hard Rain’s A-Gonna Fall”. Chalamet embodies Dylan at the microphone with tousled hair and a nasal voice.

Mangold examines Dylan’s early success as a folk musician up until his switch to electric guitar at the Newport Folk Festival in 1965. Co-stars include Edward Norton in the role of folk legend Pete Seeger.

Monica Barbaro as Joan Baez

Monica Barbaro plays the singer Joan Baez, Elle Fanning plays a friend of Dylan’s. Dylan, now 83, is involved in the production. Mangold directed the award-winning film “Walk the Line” about the life of country singer Johnny Cash in 2005.

Chalamet was nominated for an Oscar in 2018 for his leading role in the relationship drama “Call Me By Your Name.” Most recently, he directed the science fiction film “Dune: Part Two” and the musical comedy “Wonka.”
