A 79-year-old resident of Saint-Marcel-lès-Valence (Drôme) recently filed a complaint for manslaughter with civil action once morest an orthopedic surgeon. She considers the latter responsible for the death of her companion, who died in 2019 at the age of 77 following a back operation carried out by the professor, indicates Le Dauphine Libéré.

Nine months had passed between the intervention and the death of the septuagenarian, treated at the hospital in Valence (Drôme) for several months following his operation. The plaintiff mentions “an infection and in the end a sepsis. […] He was in a wheelchair, paralyzed. The Drôme is not the only one to accuse the surgeon in question. Testimonials damning him began to circulate in the summer of 2022.

About sixty patients and relatives of patients living in Drôme and Ardèche and operated on by the doctor have created an association. After postoperative complications, they all suffer from sequelae for which they attribute the fault to the practitioner. The latter was sentenced last April to pay 710,000 euros to one of his patients. The plaintiff from Drôme now hopes to recover the medical file of her deceased companion.
