A comet the size of 19 football fields is approaching Earth

A huge asteroid the size of 19 football fields is approaching the planet this week, and it is the largest this year, and is larger than the Empire State, according to NASA.

This giant rock is called 7335 (1989 JA) and was discovered by astronomer Eleanor Helen in May 1989, and it has a huge diameter of 1.1 miles, which means that it surpasses the famous American skyscraper the Empire State in terms of size.

According to NASA data, the massive rock safely passes over our planet at a distance of regarding 2.5 million miles, or regarding 10 times the distance between Earth and the Moon.

It is scheduled that the comet will not approach Earth once more until 2055.

Given the size of the massive asteroid or comet, NASA classified it as a “potential danger”, because any change in its direction might constitute a catastrophe on Earth and have a severe destructive effect.

In general, NASA classifies any fast-moving space object within 4.65 million miles of it as a “potential hazard.”

The largest rock that passed on Earth was 3122 Florence (1981 ET3), which is a very large asteroid with two moons, which flew near Earth at a distance of seven million kilometers in September 2017.
