A combined antigen self-test for Covid-19, influenza and bronchiolitis. What advantages and disadvantages?

These days, multiple respiratory viruses tend to circulate at high speed. Among them, some have more or less similar symptoms. In order to avoid confusion between these pathologies, a new test has been put on the market. This is a combined rapid antigen test that should determine if a patient is suffering from Covid 19, influenza or respiratory syncytial virus (bronchiolitis).

Three simultaneous tests in 15 minutes

This combined test works in the same way as antigen tests that can detect the coronavirus. This self-test consists of a swab to take a sample from the nose which is then immersed in a solution. The next step is to deposit drops in a cassette made up of three strips. This kit therefore aims to simultaneously detect and differentiate coronavirus, influenza A and B viruses, as well as RSV within 15 minutes.
