A collection of 20 rare Ferraris found in a forgotten warehouse

This is undoubtedly one of the most stunning finds of the decade!

Found by chance in an old hangar, this collection consists of 20 unique Ferrari sports cars. The find has already been handed over to the auction house RM Sotheby’s, which will sell them this August in Monterey at the Car Week event.

In 2004, Hurricane Charlie hit Florida and dealt several devastating blows to the hangar where these rare cars had been stored since 1990. After the disaster, the cars damaged by the storm were transported to Indianapolis to a secure warehouse. This is where the Ferraris have spent the last 19 years.

The crown jewel of this unique collection is the 250 GT coupe built by Pininfarina in 1956. The car was commissioned by King Mohammed V of Morocco. The coupe retained its original three-litre V12 engine. The car is expected to sell for $2.3 million.

The collection also features the 1978 Ferrari 512 BB Competizione that raced at Le Mans. This car, number 87, was one of three in Luigi Chinetti’s team to start the French endurance race.

Luigi Chinetti, a former Alfa Romeo driver and three-time Le Mans winner, owned three 512 Berlinetta-Boxers, factory-prepared by Ferrari to meet racing requirements. Before retiring, the car drove 19 out of 24 hours at Le Mans. The car is valued at $2.8 million.

“This is a unique opportunity for enthusiasts to own these iconic Ferraris, some of which have been raced in famous races. Most of these Ferraris have retained their original condition from the day they were purchased – a true ‘found in the barn’ concept. This is the first time that RM Sotheby’s has brought a collection of this magnitude to the market,” said Rob Myers, CEO of RM Sotheby’s.
