Riyadh: The world will be amazed to see and hear regarding this city. A revolutionary urban residential design that demolishes all urban and residential concepts so far is going to become a reality in Saudi Arabia’s dream project area ‘Neomi’. The design of the future city called ‘The Line’ was released in Jeddah on Monday by Saudi Crown Prince Amir Mohammed bin Salman.
Saudi Arabia is preparing to make possible through ‘The Line’ city, an urban revolution that provides an unprecedented urban living experience by protecting the surrounding nature, but considering people first. The Crown Prince first presented the initial concept and vision of ‘The Line’, which redefines the concept of urban development and what cities of the future should look like, in January last year. Its concrete design was announced last night (Monday).
The ‘Dai Line’ will show the world how a city without roads, cars and pollution, a zero-percent pollution-free city of the future, and how communities will live in it. It will run on 100 percent renewable energy and prioritize people’s health and well-being, rather than transportation and infrastructure as in traditional cities. It will put nature ahead of development and protect 95 percent of Neom’s land.
The Neom project is located on the Red Sea coast on the northern border of Saudi Arabia. Within it, The Line urban housing project will be prepared in a vertical (one straight line) shape, 200 meters wide and 170 km long and 500 meters above sea level. Protected by two outer walls, the height of the city is 488 meters. 170 kilometers long and 488 meters high, these walls will be wrapped in mirrors reflecting the surrounding views. Houses will be built in two rows within these walls, facing each other in a straight line. 90 lakh people can live permanently in houses rising on both sides within 170 km length and 200 meters width. This city, which will be built in an area of 34 square kilometers to accommodate such a lakh residents, will be amazing compared to other cities of similar capacity.
The design of ‘The Line’ is to provide the best infrastructure without excessive expenditure and to create high efficiency without the activities required for population in other cities. Residents of this city can enjoy a pleasant climate throughout the year. While traveling on foot, you can also enjoy the surrounding nature.
Within the city there will be facilities to fulfill all the daily needs of the residents within five minutes. Public parks, pedestrian areas, schools, workplaces and homes will be made accessible within this time frame.
The exterior mirror that covers the walls is what gives the line its unique character and allows even its small footprint to blend in with nature. Meanwhile the interior of the walls will create extraordinary experiences and magical moments.
The design of the city will be completely digitized. Construction will be industrialized to a large extent by developing construction technologies and processes.
