A chronological table of Korean history erased from Goguryeo and Balhae… Northeast project tricks?

◀ anchor ▶

It was revealed that Goguryeo and Balhae were excluded from the Korean history chronology when China held an exhibition of ancient relics to commemorate the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Korea and China.

The National Museum of Korea has freely modified the chronology provided with the relics, but there are concerns that it may be an attempt to distort history to include Goguryeo and Balhae in Chinese history.

I’m Lee Hae-in, a correspondent from Beijing.

“The Goryeo dynasty, the oldest bell in Korean history, is a good example of mutual example through the exchange of bronze culture between Korea and China.”

However, the chronology of Korean history displayed along with the relics is strange.

Under Gojoseon, there are Silla, Baekje, and Gaya, but Goguryeo is missing.

Balhae, which should be together in the Unified Silla era, is not listed in the chronological table.

At the bottom, I wrote that the contents of this chronological table were provided by the National Museum of Korea.

It is as if Korea might misunderstand Goguryeo and Balhae as not considering Korean history.

However, the chronology provided by the National Museum of Korea along with the relics included Goguryeo and Balhae.

The Chinese side changed the content at will.

The National Museum of Korea demanded an immediate correction and apology, saying, “It is an international custom to faithfully reflect the materials provided in the exhibition, but the Chinese attitude undermines the relationship of trust.”

However, the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs virtually rejected the request for revision, saying, “The Goguryeo issue is an academic issue that requires discussion.”

“Academic issues do not need to be politically discussed because they can be discussed and communicated in the academic realm.”

It is pointed out that countermeasures need to be prepared as it has been revealed that the attempt to distort the history of Goguryeo and Balhae into Chinese history through the Northeast Project is still in progress.
