A Chinese man who refused to quarantine and fled was arrested in Seoul in two days

A Chinese man in his 40s who fled following arriving from China on the 3rd following being diagnosed with Corona 19 and refusing to be quarantined at a hotel, a temporary living facility, was caught by the police in Seoul on the 5th, two days later.

The Incheon Metropolitan Police Agency announced that it had arrested a 41-year-old Chinese national who was hiding in a hotel in Jung-gu, Seoul at around 12:55 p.m.

Mr. A is suspected of refusing quarantine and fleeing due to the confirmation of Corona 19 near a hotel, a temporary living facility in Yeongjong Island, Jung-gu, Incheon, at around 10:4 pm on the 3rd.

Hotel closed-circuit (CC) TV showed the quarantine bus arriving at the parking lot and 6 minutes later, Mr. A, who got out of the vehicle, ran away. It was found that Mr. A went to a large supermarket in Yeongjong Island, regarding 300 meters away from the hotel, and took a taxi to Seoul.

After arriving at Incheon Airport on a passenger flight from China on the 3rd, Mr. A was tested positive in the Corona 19 PCR (genetic amplification) test and was scheduled to be quarantined in a hotel.

The police plan to investigate the reason for the escape and the route of movement following confiscating Mr. A at the Yeongjong Island Hotel in Incheon, where he fled.

A police official said, “The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention will identify the people Mr. A came into contact with while on the run.”

Mr. A will be sentenced to up to one year in prison or a fine of up to 10 million won for violating the Infectious Disease Prevention Act.
