A child dies or is injured every ten minutes – Shocking stories

The death toll in Gaza is rising daily, even without bombing as many die of starvation.

It is shocking that a child dies or is injured every ten minutes.

At least eight children were killed by Israeli shelling, including ten-year-old Shahed. Her family released photos of her. “The Americans are killing my family members and then sending meals for those who are left. And the one who went to receive the meal died, a child,” said her grandfather, Ali Orok.

In another shocking story, 13-year-old Zane Orrock had a miraculous escape when his home was bombed. But fate was cruel. Months later the thread of his life was cut while trying to grab a package of food.

“Zane headed to where the humanitarian aid was dropping. As the parachutes were falling, an aid box hit his head, the people trying to catch them trampled him, they didn’t notice the boy – they were hungry too,” said the boy’s father, Mahmoud Orok.

Meanwhile, the photo of Palestinian Inas Abu Maamar cradling the lifeless body of her niece that won the World Press Photo’s first prize captures the chilling record. The death toll in Gaza is approaching 34,000, of which 14,000 are children.

“According to UNICEF, every ten minutes a child dies or is injured in Gaza. 19,000 children in Gaza have been orphaned,” a CNN anchor said.

Another five were killed in Rafah, where more than a million people have fled for safety. Some try to forget by bathing in the sea, but they live with the terror of an upcoming Israeli operation and with hunger prevailing.

“Across Gaza, a man-made famine is tightening its noose. In the north, infants and young children have begun to die of malnutrition and dehydration. Across the border, food and clean water are waiting to be shipped. But UNRWA is not allowed to deliver this aid and save lives,” said the UN Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) Commissioner-General, Philip Lazzarini.

The UN accuses Israel of seeking to end UNRWA’s activities in the enclave and of harshly mistreating UNRWA staff in Gaza it has captured.

With shelling continuing, particularly in central Gaza, where a Hamas official was neutralized, negotiations in Doha for a ceasefire and the release of hostages remain deadlocked.
