A paramedic from the town of Goya in Corrientes saved the life of a one-year-old and eight-month-old boy who arrived at the Public Health Care Center (CAPS) without vital signs.
This is Laura Merello, who through CPR maneuvers managed to assist the minor who had suffered a febrile seizure that led to unemployment.
“With great pride, we want to publicly congratulate Laura Merello, part of our staff who, together with Vicky Gómez and María Vallejos, all CAPS Sarmiento staff managed to save the life of a 1-year-old and 8-month-old boy, who arrived without Vital signs! It’s teamwork, it’s passion and dedication. CONGRATULATIONS for not hesitating a second!” hospitals, receiving a one-year-old and eight-month-old baby in the emergency room with no vital signs.
As detailed by the professional to the TN Goya portal, “On Saturday a boy came to the room on a motorcycle with a fainted boy, aged one year and eight months. Apparently they had given him medication to lower the fever and he fainted.”
“The boy was the child’s neighbor and the parents asked him to bring him urgently because he was in serious condition. The child’s house is three or four blocks from CAPS”Laura added.
There, the paramedic said that she saw that “he had no pulse and I started to do the CPR maneuver.”
“My partner María Vallejos (health agent) verified the child’s pulse and as soon as there was a slight pulse, we went up with my other partner, Vicky Gómez, on a motorcycle and we went urgently to the hospital. We did not hesitate for a second, “explained Laura.
“Upon arrival at the hospital they stabilized him, put him on oxygen and found that he had had a cardiorespiratory arrest and what he had was a febrile seizure”detailed the paramedic.
“If we didn’t arrive on time and did the CPR maneuver, the child would probably die”he said following the anguish and acting once morest the clock to save the little boy’s life.
“Thank God we were able to act quickly and following being under observation, they gave him something for the fever and he was discharged,” commented Laura with joy.
